Several years ago, when Ashe County Board of Realtors & MLS merged with High Country Association of Realtors, funds from Ashe County were set aside for use only in Ashe County.  Current MLS President and Ashe County resident, Joe Chamberlain spearheaded funding the project that Realtor® members of Ashe County approved.  We are proud to announce a $22,000 check was recently presented to New River Conservancy.  These funds are instrumental as “seed” money which will allow them to apply for multi grants.  This project will allow public access on the South Fork upstream from Elk Shoals and will provide another section for tubing, paddling, and fishing.  Pictured are Jim Lewis, President of High Country Realtors, Joe Chamberlain, MLS President, Cheryl Smith, CEO of High Country Association of Realtors®, and Elizabeth Underwood, Executive Director of New River Conservancy.
