Springtime in the High Country

After one last cold blow from winter, spring finally hit the High Country in mid-April. Temperatures occasionally hovered near the 70s, as the mountain landscapes started to green again. Below are some of the many photos recently shared on social media, showing the beauty of the North Carolina mountains in early bloom.

Winter finally arrives in the High Country

The year 2017 opened in the High Country with the most significant snow event of winter – more than a foot of snow. It started mid-day Friday, January 6, and continued through most of Saturday. When it was done, the area had its first blanket of the white stuff and a lot of happy skiers. It was gone by Thursday, when a rare burst of spring-like temperatures blew in.
